The Downtown Hershey Association was recently recognized by the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau (HHRVB) for its outstanding achievements in tourism in the past year during the 4th Annual “Partner in Tourism” Platinum Awards Ceremony.
Downtown Hershey’s new “Life on Chocolate” Event Series was awarded “Best New Event.” The inaugural event series included Farmers Market on Chocolate, Music on Chocolate, Art on Chocolate, Choctoberfest and a holiday celebration.
“We proudly accept this award on behalf of hundreds of volunteers who worked to make our event series a success. Together, we are helping to re-energize and ultimately revitalize our downtown,” said past Downtown Hershey Association chairperson Susan Cort. “We are looking forward to another exciting Life on Chocolate event series in 2016,” she added.
Downtown Hershey Association also received some funding assistance from the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau to help market the events. The Association received a $5000 grant that will be used to help advertise the 2016 event series. Downtown Hershey is one of four recipients to receive a Marketing Assistance Program grant.
“The grant support from the visitors bureau will help us promote the 2016 Life on Chocolate event series so even more people will visit downtown and support our local businesses,” said Downtown Hershey Association Chairperson Pam Whitenack. “Our partnership with the visitors bureau will help us attract local, regional and destination guests who are looking for a place to dine, shop and recreate,” she added.
