Hershey Area All Things Diversity

The Township of Derry is pleased to invite the community to the Hershey Area All Things Diversity Sessions for 2019-2020. Sessions are organized by the Derry Township School District, the Derry Township, Downtown Hershey Association, the Hershey Company, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, the Hershey Story Museum, and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Hershey Area – All Things Diversity is a free series of programs coordinated by Derry Township, The Hershey Story -The Museum on Chocolate Avenue, Derry Township School District, The Hershey Company, Penn State Health, and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. Our January session will feature Dee Stalnecker, who will be presenting “Poverty in the Hershey Community.”

Ms. Stalnecker will examine poverty and available resources in the Hershey community. She will also discuss Ruby Payne’s hidden rules of poverty and how they affect some of the judgments we make about people in poverty.

Ms. Stalnecker has been a social worker for nearly 30 years. She has worked as a child welfare worker, juvenile probation officer, counselor in alternative education and a school social worker. She earned her Masters in Social Work at Temple University and is currently working on her Doctorate. She is the school social worker for the Derry Township School District.
