The Downtown Hershey Association is excited to host the first-ever Culturefest. This Saturday, June 23, between 12:00 and 8:00 p.m., ChocolateTown Square Park will be transformed into a celebration of global arts, food, and music with a local flavor.
Multiple stages will feature live performances of music and dance. Various ethnic dance groups will perform throughout the day. Three bands will also take to the stage. The performance schedule is:
12:30 and 2:00 p.m. Chinese Cultural Arts Institute
The Chinese Cultural Arts Institute aims to facilitate and nurture an understanding of Chinese culture in the United States. CCAI helps with the exchange of dance, art, culture, theatre, and language.
1:15 and 2:30 p.m. Rasika School of Indian Dance
Rasika School of Indian Dance aims to enrich and maintain the traditional heritage and basics of this old dance style from Southern India, while still targeting a global audience.
|3:00 p.m.||Colebrook Road
This bluegrass band will use an intricate and dynamic arrangement to create an interestingly modern, complex, and varied sound.
|4:45 p.m.||CASE 150
A group of veteran musicians will showcase their eclectic Americana sound.
|6:30 p.m.||Emmanual Nsingani (Von Lem)
Wraps up the performances with his worldly, folkloric flavor.
ChocolateTown Square will serve as a dynamic place where diverse artists can come together to share and sell their work. Artisans from throughout the region will share their unique talents, including picture books, collage art, sea glass jewelry, and rock sculptures. The talent brought to Downtown Hershey will be extensive: artists transforming wine and beer bottles into cheese trays, or simply hand blown glass. Their work will range from traditional to modern and accompany everything in between—you will be sure to find something that matches your unique style. A complete list of vendors can be found here.
We hope to see your whole family at Culturefest, as there will be activities for children. In addition to a bouncy obstacle course that will be available for children all day, SPLAT, a family art studio, will be presenting arts and crafts, and The Hershey Story Museum and Hershey Public Library will facilitate activities. The schedule is as follows:
12:00 – 6:00 p.m.: Henna
12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Hands-on Craft presented by Seedlings Academy for Young Learners
12:00 – 2:00 p.m.: Kindermusic
2:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Chinese Calligraphy

You will have the opportunity to eat your way around the world, as the festival will feature five American food trucks, five global food trucks, and three snack tents. The cultural food venues will include Mediterranean, Mexican, and Vietnamese. Additionally, the ever trendy gourmet grilled cheese will be making its way to ChocolateTown Square accompanied by scoops of edible cookie dough for dessert. If unique foods are not your thing, traditional American crabcakes, french fries, barbeque, hotdogs, and ice cream will be available for purchase as well.
There will also be numerous food vendors who will be selling snacks to take home such as luxury beef jerky, pickles, gourmet popcorn, and kettle corns.
No meal would be complete without an accompanying beverage. Local favorites, Troegs Independent Brewing and Tattered Flag, will be selling their unique beers, and Olivero’s Vineyard will sell wine. MAke sure to also save room for Theobald&Oppenheimer’s Caribbean Rum Cocktails. Non-alcoholic options include 3J’s Coffee and the Taza truck as well as various offerings from our food vendors. All of the food and beverage vendors are listed here.
