In addition, Pronio’s grilled sausage on an Italian roll or Pronio’s meatballs on an Italian roll will be available for purchase for $5.00. Each sandwich comes with a side of pasta salad and a water and proceeds benefit Dog T.A.G.S., a service dog owner training organization; Cocoa Packs, Inc.; St. Joan of Arc Church; and the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, the Hershey Italian Lodge will be onsite selling wine and beer (cash only).
The story begins in 1919 when Michele and Rose Pronio, immigrants from Italy, started a small dry goods store on Derry Road in Hershey. Few residents owned cars at this time, so the Pronio’s filled and delivered orders throughout the growing town. In addition, the delivery truck would double as a school bus for the town’s children, creating a personalized experience to help their business thrive.
Over the years, the business prospered due to its emphasis on quality goods and excellent service. Pronio’s has continued to thrive in large part due to the dedication of family members, hard work, quality products, and excellent customer service.
And this year, they are celebrating 100 years of their truly outstanding service! Surviving the Great Depression, multiple wars, and three generations of family ownership, Pronio’s has stood the test of time in large part because of the community that’s embraced it all those years.
