Calling all Townies! Ready for a fun summer event for the whole family? Well, look no further than the first ever Townie Picnic, scheduled for July 20 from 5:30 – 9:00 pm at The Meadows on Homestead. Everyone who lives or works anywhere in the Hershey area is welcome to join this evening of excitement! While there’s no cost to attend, please RSVP to help with planning.
The Townie Picnic is being coordinated by Colleen Kadel and Ann Gardiner. Kadel and Gardiner are excited about the picnic’s role as a way to “foster a stronger sense of community in our unique and beautiful downtown,” adding that it will be “a great opportunity to bring together family, friends, and neighbors for some summer fun!”
In addition to a wide range of delicious food and drink options, fun games and activities will run all evening for everyone involved!
While even locals may drive by The Meadows without giving it a second thought, in years past the field was a popular location for pick-up football games. The most significant matchup earned a chapter entitled “The Meadows” in the biography of Ernie Accorsi, “The GM: The Inside Story of a Dream Job and the Nightmares that Go with It.”
Before you leave the house, don’t forget to pack your picnic blankets and lawn chairs, as well as any food or drink that you want to have on hand. The picnic is outdoors, so in the event of unfavorable weather, cancellation announcements will be posted on the Downtown Hershey Association website. Mark your calendars for this exciting summer event. It’s a night with the Townies that you won’t want to miss!
