You’re Invited to Milton Hershey’s Birthday Celebration

On September 13th, 1857, the most famous chocolatier in history was born: Milton S. Hershey. The time to celebrate this entrepreneur’s birth is coming again, marking what would be Mr. Hershey’s 162nd year. To honor Milton Hershey’s legacy, ChocolateTown Square and The Hershey Story Museum will be hosting a variety of community celebrations full of fun, music, chocolate, and more!

On Friday, September 13th, The Hershey Company will host a picnic in ChocolateTown Square to celebrate their founder’s birthday and their 125th company milestone. The picnic will include food trucks, live music, and fun! This celebration is open to Hershey Employees and the community from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. ChocolateTown Square Park will also hold a performance of music reminiscent of Mr. Hershey’s era by The Tunesters of Central Pennsylvania. The celebration will conclude with birthday cupcakes donated by Milton Hershey School and milk chocolate bars (while supplies last) courtesy of The Hershey Company.

The Hershey Story Museum will be hosting a chocolate lab class for the kids on the same day. From 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., a “Celebration Truffles” Chocolate Lab Class for 5 year olds will be held at the museum. Ticket purchase required. There will also be multiple free sessions of Preschool Story Time with Miss Susan this week and the next. These sessions are recommended for children ages 3 through 5, and will be held on September 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th. Each will have a different theme and will consist of a simple craft after an interactive read-aloud.

Museum Day will be celebrated on September 21st. Guests who download a ticket at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2019 will receive free admission to the Museum Experience. The free admission is part of the The Hershey Story’s participation in Smithsonian magazine’s annual Museum Day. Each ticket provides free admission for two individuals and tickets are limited to one per household. Come celebrate Milton Hershey’s birthday with us!
